Meet the Doctor

An El Centro native, Dr.
Valusek graduated from Imperial Valley College prior to receiving a
full scholarship to Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.
After graduating from LACC, Dr. Valusek was accepted into the
roentgenology residency program at the Glendale Chiropractic Clinic
and enrolled in post graduate studies in chiropractic orthopedics.
During this time he was invited to join the teaching staff at LACC teaching
microscopic anatomy, gross anatomy of the special senses and cellular
physiology.
After completing his post
doctoral studies, Dr. Valusek, his wife and children moved back to El
Centro where he established his practice in 1971.
He is a member of the American
Chiropractic Association, the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists
(currently serving as the advisor to the executive board). He
is a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists and the International
College of Chiropractors, and is also a member of the Council on Orthopedics
of the ACA.
Dr. Valusek has been a member of the Board of Regents of Southern California University of Health Sciences from 1990 to the present, serving as Chairman of the Board from 1999 to 2003. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Board since 1992. Under Dr. Valusek’s guidance as Chairman of the board of Regents, LACC became a college of the Southern California University of Health Science. He was also instrumental in the development of the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, a second college within the University system.
Born and raised in the Imperial
Valley, Dr. Matthew Valusek graduated from Vincent Memorial High School
where he received the American Legion Award upon graduation.
He attended Imperial Valley College and Fullerton State College prior
to enrolling in Los Angeles College of Chiropractic at the Southern
California University of Health Sciences. He was the recipient
of the C.X. Jones Memorial Scholarship for his studies at LACC.
While attending LACC,
Dr. Valusek worked as an Anatomy Lab Technician, instructing anatomy
seminars for advanced studies high school classes, as well as assisting
1st through 3rd term
anatomy students with their anatomy studies. While studying at
LACC, he was trained in the art of diagnosis
and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions utilizing chiropractic adjustments,
modalities and myofascial release technique. Myofascial Release Technique
is a soft tissue therapy intended for pain relief, increasing range
of motion and balancing the body through the treatment of the body’s
muscles and connecting fascia. Matthew received his hands on training
from Dr. Craig K. Kawaoka DC, DACBSP, CSCS who is the current Interim
Sports Medicine Department Director at Southern California University
of Health Sciences.
Dr. Valusek has also continued
his postdoctoral studies and is Level 1 Certified in the Graston Technique.
During his final three terms at LACC, Matthew continued his hands-on studies as a Graduate Extern under the Clinical Preceptorship Training Program, working under the supervision of his father in his El Centro office.
